Top festival is back. The dates of The Spirit of Tengri 2018 have been announced
The open air concerts will be held on the first weekend of the summer - June 2 and 3. The venue for the Festival is traditionally the main open-air area of the city - the Abay Square in front of the Repiblic Palace in
Almaty. The start is at 17:00. Free entrance.
The festival is supported by Almaty Akimat. The general partner of the project is the Magnum Cash&Carry supermarket chain.
In the first weekend of summer, residents and guests of Almaty will be able to watch and hear performances of great ethnoworld music bands from all over the world: guests from France, Israel, Spain, Australia, the Republic of Niger, Burkina Faso, Uzbekistan and other countries will come to Kazakhstan. The participation in the festival has been confirmed by the African-Arabic team Speed Caravan, the Israeli group Q2A, the Uzbek project Abbos. Besides, the scene of The Spirit of Tengri will welcome a comeback of the Buryat wolves - the Shono band, and the Bashkir ethno-rockers Argymak.
Organizers promise a grand and lively show with its signature "family" atmosphere, contributed by a fair and of artisans, where guests of the concert will be able to purchase clothes, musical instruments and handmade souvenirs. Next to the fan zone there will be a food court. The surprise of the event will be the presentation of the anniversary DVD-edition, which includes a video version and a collection of the best tracks of The Spirit of Tengri in 2017.
"Now the geography of the performers participating in the project has significantly expanded: we are known all over the world, so, in 2018 the selection is no longer the same as at the start of the Festival.Today we are receiving participation proposals, and then make our choice according to one principle: will Kazakh audience find the artist interesting, this is the main selection criterion for us," - the general producer of The Spirit of Tengri, Jan Kasteev said.

We are proud to support and develop the level set by us, declaring the unquestionable level and the skills of the performers and the exceptionally positive and benevolent context of the project itself and its content, which is focused on preserving and praising the traditions and culture of Peoples of the Great Steppe," - the Head Director of the Festival, Sergey Maiboroda added.
The festival is held with the support of the tour operator Tez Tour Kazakhstan. Guests are welcomed by the Hotel Kazakhstan. Technical support for the Festival is provided by KZ Sound.
The Spirit of Tengri is a multicultural project established by the national radio station Tengri FM in 2012. The Festival aims at demonstrating the ethnic traditions of the countries of the world on the Kazakh land. Over five years, more than 100 thousand Kazakhstanis and guests of the country have been it visitors. Musicians from 30 countries and regions of the world have been on tis stage. Among them are - the Turkish group BaBa Zula, the Chinese-Mongolian band Hanggai, the Magyar band Tilla Török's Band & Holdviola, the Estonian ethno band TRAD.ATTACK!, the Georgian trio The Shin, the band from Bashkortostan "Argymak", the Buryat-Finnish-Norwegian project Nordic Namgar, master of throat singing Radik Tyulush with the project "Chalama" from Tuva. Kazakhstan has been represented by the ethno music groups Aldaspan, Sharapat, Tigrahaud, Roksonaki, as well as the master of folklore Edil Khussainov.
