4 days left before the start The Spirit of Tengri. The Festival to be broadcast live
There are four days left before the start of the VI International Festival of Contemporary Ethnic Music The Spirit of Tengri, the Festival will be held this weekend - June 2-3. The planners of the large fabulous show told what the guests of the event should expect in the Abay square in front of the Republic Palace this year, Tengrinews.kz reports.
"This year we have invited an incredibly diverse lineup - groups from 12 countries are going to come up on stage, each of them is unique and authentic. The festival will be opened Abbos band, wo have prepared a bright, colorful show. The band Steppe Scape that consists of the stars of Eurasian community will perform in Almaty for the first time. Also, the Speed Caravan band from Algeria and our regular participants Argymak will also come up on stage, they will please the audience with their new shows. The audience should expect a colorful show, an amazing festive atmosphere and live sound only,"- Timur Gridnev the stage director of the Spirit of Tengri Festival 2018 said.
Preparation for the Festival on site began at the end of last week. Now the square in front of the Republic Palace is being decorated. Some of decorations have been specially produced for this year's Festival, some of them are updated designs of past years. There will definitely be iconic statues of the festival the Balbals - totem figures created resembling the steppe stone sculptures. They have been installed near the stage, so everybody can take photos with them.
"If you ever came to the Festival, you might have seen wonderful balbals - stone sculptures that are found in the steppe - they have been the festival decoration since the very start, so they have already become symbolic. Now they are being renovated in the studio. Everyone will be able to take a photo with them at the Festival", Elina Altynbekova, the designer of The Spirit of Tengri, said.
The decorator also added that the symbol of the Festival - the wolf - have been shown in the site decoration. The head of the wolf can be found on posters, banners and souvenirs - T-shirts, magnets, badges. In general, the style of the Festival does not change much: it is important that the overall design remains recognizable.
Traditionally, there are going to be a fair and an ethnic artisan town at the Festival. Artisans who produce ethnic clothing, musical instruments and souvenirs will personally answer customers' questions and suggest how to properly wear or use their products.
The Festival's chief administrator Konstantin Golovin noted that the site will have a very convenient entrance from Abai - Dostyk crossing. "The stage will be clearly visible from every point of the site. The large LED screen for the show will be located at the Republic Palace's facade." The world cuisine will be represented at the food court. "On the other side there will be souvenir stalls", said the specialist responsible for arrangement and convenience of the guests at the event

Sergey Maiboroda, the chief director and general manager of The Spirit of Tengri, described the scope of the upcoming event: "The Spirit of Tengri is a truly grand, grandiose, large-scale national project, which we are very proud of. The VI International Festival the Spirit of Tengri will be held on June 2 and 3 in the Abay Square in front of the Republic Palace in Almaty. The start is at 17:00. Free entrance. The guests should expect a beautiful, powerful, live show: traditionally live sound of high quality, lighting that is literally seen from space, and, definitely, the Festival's signature family atmosphere. In total, there will performances from11 magnificent ethno-world bands: the Israeli band Q2A, the Buryat wolves of Shono band, the band from Spain Childo Tomas, the Bashkir rockers Argymak, the Gata Band from Armenia, the French-Algerian group Speed Caravan, the Abbos band from Uzbekistan, Aldaspan project (Kazakhstan), the EZZA band from the Republic of Niger, the French-born YELÉ group, and the Steppe Scape project ("Stars of Eurasia") along with the best DJs of Kazakhstan.
The festival is held with the support of the Almaty Akimat. The general partner of the project is Magnum Cash&Carry supermarket chain. Support by the tour operator Tez Tour Kazakhstan. Guests are welcomed by the Hotel Kazakhstan. Technical support for the Festival is provided by KZ Sound.
The Spirit of Tengri is a multicultural project established by the national radio station Tengri FM in 2012. The Festival aims at demonstrating the ethnic traditions of the countries of the world on the Kazakh land. Over five years, more than 100 thousand Kazakhstanis and guests of the country have been its visitors. Musicians from 30 countries and regions of the world have been on the stage. Among them are - the Turkish group BaBa Zula, the Chinese-Mongolian band Hanggai, the Magyar band Tilla Török's Band & Holdviola, the Estonian ethno band TRAD.ATTACK!, the Georgian trio The Shin, the band from Bashkortostan "Argymak", the Buryat-Finnish-Norwegian project Nordic Namgar, master of throat singing Radik Tyulush with the project "Chalama" from Tuva. Kazakhstan has been represented by the ethno music groups Aldaspan, Sharapat, Tigrahaud, Roksonaki, as well as the master of folklore Edil Khussainov.
