Nomad Way 2018. Voices of nomadic people will be heard again in Astana
The International Music Festival of Nomadic Culture Nomad Way 2018 dedicated to preserving the heritage and popularizing the culture of nomadic peoples will be held in Astana on June 22-24, Tengrinews.kz reports. The festival is organized by The Spirit of Tengri project with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The venue of the Nomad Way 2018 is the amphitheater on the Esil River embankment. This year, 19 representatives of the musical culture of the Turkic and fraternal peoples will perform for Astana residents and guests of the city. Among the participants there are performers in the ethno-world genre from Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Hungary, Turkey, Estonia and the USA. The first festival, which became one of the most grandiose cultural events of a country scale, was held in Astana in the premises of Ethnoaul national cultural complex in June 2017.
"Today Nomad Way is the largest festival of nomadic culture not only in Central Asia, but all over the world, it goes on for three days in the very center of the continent, and about 100 artists have taken part in the Festival not counting those who work to make it. It is worth noting that this is a festival of nomadic culture, that is, it is not only about the Turkic culture and culture of Asia. In all the world, on every continent there are peoples who were nomadic in the past, and perhaps, still are. The Festival is unique because we cover the entire globe. This year the Festival is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Astana, which will be reflected in the Nomad Way program. Besides their own programs, all the performers should present the program in Kazakh, so this is the way to celebrate this date. Many performers from different countries meet Kazakh culture for the first time but they appreciate the Festival with love and soul. We will hear our familiar old songs but in new arrangements. We are looking forward to these days with great pleasure! " general producer of the Nomad Way Festival Zhan Kasteev shared.
"It is important for the country to remember its nomadic past because there is no future without the past, each person has their own spirit inside; when the past is forgotten, this spirit disappears. The spirit of the nomad is always novelty, always a search for something exciting and new. The nomadic culture is not only the travelling, it is a philosophy, life manual for a person in our region, it is still relevant, " Zhan Kasteev added. Guests of the festival should expect live sound, a great light show, incredible energy and a full immersion in an amazing atmosphere filled with stunning sounds of traditional instruments.
"As you know, we have just had a fantastic, beautiful two-day show in Almaty The Spirit of Tengri, one of our first bright projects, now we are going to prepare the Nomad Way festival, the list of participants is already defined, the venue has been found, we are happy to announce that it will be the amphitheater on the embankment of the Esil river. There's a great atmosphere, a beautiful river - I think that the Astana residents and guests of the capital will be pleasantly surprised by the warm June show we are preparing. We will try to provide not only musical content but also insert an educational element - we are going to tell about the culture and traditions of the countries, this year the content will be aimed at the residents of our country in Kazakh, as well as foreigners - in English. "It will be very interesting and informative for the audience," Sergey Maiboroda, chief director of the Nomad Way Festival said.
